Climate change is an emerging issue in development arena. Bangladesh is one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world due to climate change and will become even more susceptible due to adverse impacts of climate change. Floods, tropical cyclones, storm surges and droughts are likely to become more frequent and severe in the coming years. In this connection a group of experienced professionals of multi-disciplinary background established ECSDI in 2013 for greater interest of the community and for our beloved country Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is one of the most dense populated country in the world and we have to ensure our food security, water security and livelihood security of the people of this country. With such a tiny country with huge population and to keep the environmental integrity and to ensure ecosystem and biodiversity conservation is another huge challenge for us. Proper and scientific environmental and ecosystem management is crucial and important for us as well.
Government of Bangladesh has taken several types of initiatives to face climate change impacts and to address the environmental issues of Bangladesh. Private sector initiatives should go hand in hand to practice climate change adaptation and mitigation activities and to address the greater environmental issues. In this connection ECSDI conducting several types of study, research and expanding its network for exchange experience of climate change and environmental issues in the context of sustainable development and to make the society climate resilient.
